Louisiana isn’t looking pretty when it comes to the well being of it’s residents! Louisiana has ranked 3rd highest rate of poverty according to the latest Census Bureau report. This unfortunate news doesn’t come as a shock either, Louisiana’s rate has improved minimally over the last few years, rising from 19.8 percent in 2014 to 19.6 percent in 2015. Almost one in five Louisiana residents were in poverty last year, with the Census Bureau estimating at least 890,000 out of 4.7 million residents meeting the criteria.

Louisiana beat out two other states, Mississippi with a rate of 22 percent and New Mexico with a rate of 20.4 percent. New Hampshire is leading the nation with a rate of 8.2 percent! With a new governor recently sworn into office, maybe there will be some changes to bring Louisiana out of such a devastating format. What are your thoughts? Do you believe Gov. John Bel Edwards can help Louisiana? Let us know!
