2016.What a time to be alive! First, Beyonce graced us with her pro black Superbowl premiere of the smash hit “Formation”, then Kendrick tag teamed, giving us a controversial Grammy performance that gave many the chill bumps and had all of us pumping our fist in the air. It seems David Banner’s decided to join the clan, releasing his new mixtape “Before the Box”, and let me be the first to tell you, he unapologetic about being BLACK. “Pain” one of the songs on “Before The Box”, keeps that momentum and doesn’t disappoint. Banner enlists Coke Bumayne, Tito Lo, and Big K.R.I.T. to the track, and the trio perfectly complimented it. “Pain” lyrics are powerful and politically charged, highlighting education, the recent events with police brutality, politics, the controversial rebel flag, and even includes a snippet from the movie “Juice.” This track lives up to its title, and is something that needs to be heard. With that being said, take a listen and let us know what you think.
