Android fans everywhere have been anticipating the release of Samsung’s S7 and yes, that wait is over. Samsung’s flagship phone, the Galaxy S series, is always its most popular and almost never disappoints. While the design hasn’t received a dramatic change from the S6, they did make some major internal changes that we can’t help but be thankful for. Here’s seven reasons why you should throw out your current smartphone and up the ante to the S7.
- It’s Waterproof. How many times have you been stuck putting your phone in rice after being clumsy? I definitely have once or six times! The new S7 comes IP68 certified (up to military standards) being able to uphold in 1 meter of water up to 30 minutes. That will save a lot of those “uh oh” moments!
- Expandable Memory. Thank you Samsung for bringing memory cards back! 32GB is not enough to hold our screenshots, countless snapchat videos and SELFIES! Many faithful Samsung users were disappointed in their decision not to go with expandable memory with the S6 and Samsung heard their cries. The S7 supports expandable memory of up to 200GB equipped with 32GB internally.
- Its Camera. The S6 camera quality was one of the best we had seen in a while, and the S7 followed in its footsteps. While the pixels decreased from 16MP to 12MP rear camera, its equipped with a dual pixel ability, capturing ALL 12 MP, as Samsung put it. Now your camera will capture more clear, precise pictures in both high light and low light.
- Bigger Screen. Even though they kept the phone size the same, they did increase it’s screen size to 5.1 inches making it visibly easier to see. Translation, you have more screen to look at your favorite Youtube sensation or netflix while on the go!
- Bigger and Better Battery. The S7 packs a 3000mAh battery, a much needed increase compared to the S6’s 2,550mAh. You now have more time to multi task from Twitter, Facebook and random google searches without having to break out the charger. While the battery is still non removable, at least you have wireless charging, right?
- Fast Wireless Charging. Samsung is still proudly one of the only major smartphone carriers to boast wireless charging debuting it with the S6. With everything is a pro and a con and wireless charging was no different. While it was new and convenient, it was also SLOW. Samsung increased the wireless charging capabilities, with an all new FAST wireless charging pad reducing the time it takes you from 0-100% by up to 50 minutes. Now you don’t have to worry with tangling cords or bummed because you can’t an electrical outlet at the family outside BBQ. Samsung has you covered.
- Its Durability. Yes, this phone is made out of all glass. While its very nice to look at, an all glass phone is also very fragile (I once cracked my phone the third day I got it) which is code red for be careful. Samsung obviously aware, did not forget to cover this beauty in Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which makes it tough against scratches and the wear and tear of everyday use. While its still a smudge magnet, it’s a relief to know that it can handle your four year old cousin that continuously asks, “Do you have games on your phone?”
